Tata Nexon Introduces 5 Additional AMT Variants – Automatic Range Now Starts From Rs. 10 Lakh

Expanding its lineup, Tata Nexon, Tata Motors has unveiled five new AMT variants for the Nexon, aiming to enhance its competitiveness against rivals such as the Brezza, Venue, XUV300, Sonet, Magnite, and Kiger. Renowned as one of India’s top-selling SUVs, the Tata Nexon has made a significant mark in the country’s automotive market. Not only does it dominate Tata’s sales charts, but it also ranks among the best-selling vehicles across all segments. In a move to boost sales further, Tata Motors has introduced five new AMT variants, with the base automatic variant priced from Rs. 10 lakh (ex-showroom).

Initially, the Nexon facelift offered automatic variants starting from the Creative trim level (or Persona, in Tata’s terminology). The lower-tier personas like Smart and Pure were limited to manual transmissions only. Tata had positioned the Creative persona as the most versatile, offering a choice between 6-speed manual, 6-speed AMT, and even the 7-speed DCA gearbox options. Now, Tata has extended its focus to the Smart and Pure personas, providing them with more gearbox options. The new automatic variants include Smart+ Petrol AMT, Pure Petrol AMT, Pure Diesel AMT, Pure S Petrol AMT, and Pure S Diesel AMT. This move aims to broaden the sales scope and improve competitiveness against immediate rivals. The most affordable Nexon automatic variant now is the Smart+ Petrol AMT, priced at Rs. 10 lakh (ex-showroom), undercutting the previous most affordable automatic variant, the Creative Petrol AMT, by Rs. 1.7 lakh (ex-showroom).

For diesel engines, the most affordable automatic variant is the Pure Diesel AMT, priced at Rs. 11.80 lakh (ex-showroom), undercutting the previous most affordable diesel automatic variant, the Creative Diesel AMT, by Rs. 1.2 lakh (ex-showroom). Buyers interested in a sunroof can opt for the S version of these personas for an additional cost. The Nexon now offers an extensive range of variants, potentially surpassing any other car sold in India or even globally. With two engines, four gearbox options, four main personas, two feature packs (including the S variant), Dark Editions, and their variations, the Nexon lineup now boasts a staggering total of 102 variants. Additionally, upcoming CNG variants will further increase this count. The existing 1.2L 3-cylinder Turbo Petrol engine and the 1.5L 4-cylinder Diesel engine remain unchanged, offering various transmission options. The Nexon competes fiercely with rivals such as the Maruti Suzuki Brezza, Hyundai Venue, Kia Sonet, Mahindra XUV300, Nissan Magnite, and Renault Kiger.
