APRIL 09, 2024, Gurugram: The district administration has issued an order for the demolition of five towers deemed unsafe for habitation within the Chintels Paradiso complex in Gurugram’s Sector 109, announced an official today.
The directive, issued on Monday by Gurugram Deputy Commissioner Nishant Kumar Yadav, grants permission for the demolition of towers D, E, F, G, and H within the residential society, the official elaborated.
The decision follows an email from the builder to the deputy commissioner, urgently requesting the evacuation of these towers for demolition. These structures were flagged as unsafe for occupation based on audit reports submitted by a team from IIT Delhi to the administration.
The partial collapse of six floors in Tower D of the Chintels Paradiso society on February 10, 2022, resulted in the tragic loss of two female residents. Since then, the site has been embroiled in a dispute between the builder and the residents.
“Permission is granted for the demolition of towers D, E, F, G & H of the Group Housing Society namely M/s Chintel Paradiso Pvt Ltd, Sector-109, Gurugram, subject to compliance with the policies/guidelines of the relevant departments,” stated the order.
In response to the builder’s email, Mr. Yadav underscored that a committee chaired by Additional Deputy Commissioner Hitesh Kumar Meena and representatives from concerned departments had discussed the matter.
“It is important to note that this permission does not exempt you from any other applicable state/central law/act/policy related to the said work. Moreover, in the event of any negligence or mishap at the site, you will be solely accountable, and appropriate action will be taken accordingly. Additionally, you are required to submit a fortnightly report along with compliance updates to the relevant authorities,” the order emphasized.”
